Unframed Show in August at Little Dog Coffee Shop
Unframed: works by Lee Cheever
Artist Lee Cheever will be showing recent work at the Little Dog Coffee Shop in Brunswick for the month of August in a show entitled- “Unframed”. The works will be a selection of drawings and mixed media presented unframed.
Large charcoal drawings are inspired from photographs that Cheever has taken of personal scenes sharing a visual story of frozen moments. Other works, in mixed media, portray still lifes, scenes or odd moments that have captured the artist in composition and color. She enjoys creating with pictures with birds and other animals. Her work has a storytelling communication, and often a sense of humor. “Art should be easy to live with, comfortable. I want a patron to see a piece, imagine it in their own home and take it home with them. Being unframed, the buyer has some options on how to position the piece within a mat or frame. It can be moved around on the piece until the desired composition is reached. I like what negative space does to a work of art. Have some fun.” All art will be available for purchase and immediate adoption.
Lee Cheever is known in the area for her work in a variety of mediums. Previous shows have also featured carvings, sculptural presentations, drawings and paintings. Currently she is also hanging at the Frontier Cafe in a show entitled “Forest Through the Trees” and showed earlier in the year at the Pemaquid Watershed Association. She has been presenting work to the public for 14 years and her work has homes from Maine to Florida, New York to California. She lives in Harpswell and is inspired by the places she visits and records.
